My children loved this bread when they were younger. We served it with curries, but honestly they'd eat it all by itself any day.
In a large bowl combine the 2 cups whole wheat flour (or 1 cup white, 1 cup wheat), 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 tablespoon oil, and 3/4 cup tap water until it becomes a ball of dough.
Cover with a damp paper towel and let rest for 10 minutes.
Divide into 6 pieces and roll into balls. Roll them out to 1/2" thick.
Add 4 tablespoons vegetable oil to a hot skillet and fry the bread about 1 minute till golden, then flip and fry on the other side for 30 seconds. Drain on paper towels and keep covered till they cool.
(I like to sprinkle salt on them when they come out of the skillet)
Store in a plastic bag so they stay pliable.
Ingredients list:
2 cups wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon oil
3/4 cup water
vegetable oil for frying
