Do you ever feel like God isn't answering your prayers? I try to remember this promise...
For since the beginning of the world
Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear,
Nor has the eye seen any God besides You,
Who acts for the one who waits for Him.
{ Isaiah 64:4 }
...remember that God created us. He created the earth. He made this beautiful planet's orbit just the right distance from the sun to sustain life, but not burn it to a crisp or freeze it like a polar cap. He made more gorgeous animals and single-celled organisms and plants and trees and flowers and sunsets than we can enjoy in one mortal lifetime.
But best of all, He made it so that we have a way to be in His presence for eternity by sacrificing His only begotten son for our salvation.
Imagine all your loving Father has done for you, for me, for all of us who believe.
Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you;
And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
Blessed are all those who wait for Him.
{ Isaiah 30:18 }
We'd often rather work than wait. We're impatient. Some of us want answers now so we can plan, plan, plan. Some of us don't like uncertainty. God's plans, His workings, His thoughts far surpass any human comprehension.
Why I spend a moment worrying about what His plan is, I'll never understand. Instead I desire to trust that He has a plan and it is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best plan (an even-better-plan-than-I-could-have-imagined plan) for me.
I need only to wait for Him.
